Carbonaught is excited to announce our joint project with the renowned Howe Farming Group on a groundbreaking initiative - Project Mareeba Phase 1. With Howe Farming's rich history that has seen them evolve from a small family farm in the 1950s to one of the nation's most diversified producers, and their commitment to innovation, this partnership promises to be transformative. Situated at 1687 Chewko Rd, Walkamin, QLD, this project focuses on utilizing enhanced rock weathering techniques across 15Ha of banana plantations and 7Ha of mandarin orchards.
The objective is simple; to propel Howe Farming closer to their vision of being the top supplier of carbon-neutral produce in Australia. By incorporating crushed basalt as both a fertiliser and a carbon removal platform, we aim to track total soil carbon sequestration, soil health, and gauge crop results. There are also a number of adjacent market facing experiments running in parallel which may just end up shifting the way food is brought to market in Australia.
This project perfectly captures the spirit of both Carbonaught and Howe Farming: a blend of forward-thinking technology and deep-rooted respect for the land.
